Tuesday May 8 - Sydney to Singapore

Well rested today for my journey from Australia to Singapore.  Had a full breakfast in the Executive Lounge and bade the staff there my farewells.

I had reserved a ride to the airport with the concierge desk - it ended up being like "Mr. Toad's Wild Ride" but I survived.  Whew - what a ride.

Check-in at Singapore Airlines was swift and went to the Business Class lounge for refreshments.  It is an 8 hour flight from Sydney to Singapore - and they are 2 hours behind Sydney time.  Buy the entire Singapore Airlines experience was spectacular - I can see why they are rated Number 1 - attention to the smallest detail - my special meal was a gourmet treat - excellent French wines - everything was superb.

Arrival in Singapore found over 90 degree heat - it's the hot and dry season.  My driver from the hotel was there to pick me up in a Mercedes and I was wisked off to the Singapore Marriott on Orchard Road - right in the middle of the main shopping district.  The streets were teeming with people shopping up until 10 pm.  Had a bite to eat and took a leisurely stroll on Orchard Road.  The city is so clean.  Loving this so far.
