Wednesday May 9 - Singapore

Up for an early breakfast and then off to my city tour.  I took an organized tour to see the highlights since this is my only full day in Singapore.

Very diverse country - we went to Little India, Chinatown, the Civic District (let's stay at Raffles Hotel next time - 6 stars!), a lookout where I think I saw the DuPont Plant (did they ever get it running), and the Botanic Gardens.  The garden was the highlight - beautiful - and the National Orchid Garden was spectacular.

I tried out their very efficient subway system in the afternoon - easy to use - and explored the central civic district more and Chinatown before heading back to Orchard Road.

I'm now in a place where I'm a "giant" - everyone is so short.  But the people dress very nicely in general and are very well presented.  I tower over most of them though so that helps seeing things!!!

While it is the hot and dry season, today had off and on rain - sprinkles mostly rather than monsoon type rains.  That made the hot weather very, very sticky.  Even though this is a somewhat "proper" place, I wore shorts and sandals to try to stay cool.

Last night here - having Asian cuisine and then to bed somewhat early as I need to head to the airport by 7 am for an early flight to Bangkok

Glad I came here - and a day and a half was plenty for me!
