So, for me there was no May 3, 2007.
I arrived in San Francisco on May 1 late and slept late on May 2. Called Leslie, (my daughter) to wish her a "Happy 26th" birthday (for the 8th time) - like father, like daughter. My flight out of SFO was right on time. I was up on the upstairs Club level on the plane and had the entire first row to myself which was nice. Got to stretch out and ended up sleeping for 9 hours (that's never happened before). So for a 14 hour flight out over the Pacific Ocean, I slept through most of it - and completely missed May 3 since we crossed the International Date Line along the way.
I checked into the Marriott Sydney Harbor Hotel at Circular Quay. I got tickets to go to the Sydney Opera House this morning at 11 to hear the Sydney Symphony. It was a real treat. The Orchestra concerto gave me goose bumps - it was so unreal sitting there listening to such a magnificent orchestra - I was savoring the moment.
My room wasn't ready and I was "grungy" from traveling, but at this point - who cares.
The rest of the day was spent exploring downtown Sydney - lots of great "walks" in Sydney which I love to do. I went to Darling Harbor and to Chinatown.
Tomorrow my walk to the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge. That should be exciting.
I've traveled over 10,000 miles so far - another 30,000 + to go to complete my journey around the world - having a blast so far.
